Background: As described in more detail here humans get one gene from both biological parents. In our bodies, we have different kinds of proteins with different functions one of them being called ApoE. There are different variants of ApoE a protein that is believed to repair neurons. One variation of ApoE, ApoE4, is a strong risk factor for Alzheimer's disease.
Currently, Alzheimer's disease can not be cured but through lifestyle choices, one can lower the risk of getting Alzheimer's disease. For this reason, we offer testing for ApoE for the interested.
